Prevalence of Neck Pain due to faulty posture among Doctor of Physical therapy Students of University of Lahore.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of neck pain in Doctor of Physical therapy (DPT) students of University of Lahore (UOL) due to bad posture. Methodology: This cross sectional study was carried out at University Institute of Physical Therapy UOL after the approval of the synopsis. A sample size of 143 was collected using a Convenient sampling Technique from Physical Therapy undergraduates of UOL. Data were collected by using Visual analogue scale (9.3 Reliability and 9.4 Validity) and Oswestry Neck Pain Questionnaire (0.71 to 0.871 Reliability). It was analyzed by using SPSS V. 21. Results: The mean age of the students was 21.69±2.100 (range 18-29). Majority of (11.9%) the students were from 10th semester. There were 55.9% female and 44.1% males. Majority (9.8%) of participants had constant moderate pain whereas 5.6% had severe intermittent pain. Conclusion: A total of 51.8% of students had neck pain, which varied from mild to severe. The main etiology was prolonged static posture and long study hours, especially in those students who study with bend neck. This can be overcome by good postural habits and support during study time.
