A patient of Aplastic Anemia presenting with an Ulcer on the face.

We report a case of young Afghan male with Aplastic Anemia whose presenting complaints were of a non-healing ulcer on the left lateral aspect of the nose, fever and epistaxis. Peripheral blood count showed pancytopenia; Bone marrow biopsy was suggestive of Aplastic anemia.

CASE REPORT: A young Afghan male came to the skin out patient clinic with complaints of a non-healing ulcer onthe left lateral aspect of the nose. It measured 3 x 2cm & was covered with black scab. Its margins were raised and rounded. Surrounding area was erythematous. There was no associated lymphadenopathy. He had fever and Epistaxis. He had received four units of packed red cells four months back for correction of low haemoglobinin Afghanistan. He was referred to Hematology department. In Hematology clinic patient underwent a bone morrow examination. Both Aspiration and trephine biopsy were done; both of them showed increased fat spaces with decreased heinatopoietic activity and were consistent with the diagnosis of Aplastic anemia. Treatment of Aplastic anemia was initiated with Syp. Cyclosporin 100mg 12 hourly and Tab Folic acid twice a day. The infection was treated with treated with third generation Cephalosporin. He was symptoms free in one week.
