Hemothorax in Newborn.
Pak Paed J Jan ;41(2):109-11.

Hemorrhagic disease of the newborn (HDN) also called vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB) is due to deficiency of vitamin K and is the commonest cause of bleeding in infancy. It is classified as early, classical and late onset. Early HDN is seen when it occurs within 24 hours after birth while it is defined as classical HDN if it occurs between 2-5 days of life. Late onset HDN presents primarily in exclusive breast fed infants between 2-14 weeks but can be seen upto 6 months of life. We present a case of 45 days old baby girl having hemothorax, an unusual presentation of vitamin K deficiency.
