Pattern of skin diseases at Children Hospital Lahore.

During a period of three years (1996-1998), 6907 patients were examined at the outpatient clinic of Department of Pediatric Dermatology, Children Hospital/Institute of Child Health, Lahore. The incidence of various skin diseases in decreasing order of frequency was, pyogenic infections (27.9%), eczemas (24.5%), infestations (13.1%), fungal infections (7.1%), viral infections (6.2%), vascular disorders (4.5%), disorders of keratinization (2.8%), disorders of glands (2.6%), pigmented diseases (1.6%), nevoid disorders/genodermatoses (1.2%), miscellaneous group (4.8%). Majority of patients (78.8%) were suffering from cutaneous infections/ infestations and eczemas.
