Kaposi`s Sarcoma.

We report a case of a 55-year-old male with Kaposi Sarcoma of sporadic variety, which began insidiously and was associated with non-pitting oedema and pain in feet. The patient was diagnosed on histopathological examination and is under treatment with mutual collaboration between the dermatology and the oncology unit.

CASE REPORT: A 55 yew old married male, resident of Baluchistan, presented to the Dermatology OPD of JPMC with the complaints of burn ing sensation in feet for eleven months and lesions in all four limbs for six and a half months. On examination the lesions were 0.5 to 5 cm in diameter, varied from plaque to nodules and were predominantly present in all four limbs but few lesions were also present on the trunk and hard palate. These lesions were well circumscribed, erythematous to violaceous in colour. There was no discharge and the surrounding skin was normal in colour. There was oedema of both feet which was non-pitting in nature. Lymph nodes were not palpable and liver was 3cms. enlarged below the costal margin. Examination of other systems revealed no abnormality. The hematological examination showed leukocyte count 5200 cells/ mm3 and haemoglobin 13.3 grams/dl. The ESR was 58mm in 1st hour. Liver function tests, chest radiograph and other laboratory studies were within normal limits. HIV was non-reactive. Ultrasound Abdomen showed hepatomegaly with fatty changes in the liver. Skin Biopsy Was performed and histopathological changes were consistent with Kaposi Sarcoma. After discussung with the oncologist the patient was put on Chemotherapy with Inj. vincristine, Inj. Doxorubicin, Inj Bleomycin and after only one pulse the lesions started to subside.
