Normal bacterial flora in healthy Children.
J Pak Assoc Derma Jan ;11(1):3-6.

The skin of all normal individuals is colonised by bacteria. These bacteria have important interactions with host cells and hence serve various functions. However the data regarding the colonization in healthy children are lacking. The purpose of the study was to evaluate or find out the normal flora and its prevalence in healthy children. For this purpose swabs were obtained from different sites of 30 healthy children below the age of 12 years. The organisms were studied by culture and microscopy. Staph aureus was the most prevalent organism in anterior nares & perineal region, while nonpathogenic strains of staph-epidermidis and staph saprophyticus were more prevalent at other sites.
