Immunofluorescence in Pemphigus.
J Pak Assoc Derma Jan ;11(1):36-9.

Extensive use of immunofluorescence in immunopathological studies of the skin has provided a better understanding and classification of various disorders in which immune mechanisms are involved. Immunofluorescence on skin and mucosal biopsies, nowadays is extensively used for the laboratory diagnosis of autoimmune blistering disorders including pemphigus. In case of pemphigus, it is superior to clinical and histologic diagnosis alone. Immunofluorescence patterns of pemphigus, in Pakistan, have been found identical to those reported from other countries. The sensitivity of direct Immunofluorescence with IgG was detected to be 100%, in clinically active pemphigus patients, however, indirect Immunofluorescence revealed low titers in our patients.
