Pemphigus in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

It was an observational and prospective study done at DHQ and Allied Hospitals, Dermatology Department, Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad from November 1999 to February 2001. A total of fifty patients were enrolled. Age at onset varied from 10-75 years (mean age =36.58with majority in their 3rd and 4th decade. Male to female ratio was 2.33:1. Predominantly with poor socioeconomic and rural background, Arian, Jatt and Rajpoots were main ethnic groups among the patients. Thirty five (70%) had pemphigus vulgaris, thirteen (26%) pemphigus foliaceous and one (2%) each had pemphigus erythematosus and pemphigus vegetans.
