Ann King Edward Med Uni Jan ;5(3,4):255-8.

Specific lesions of leukemia (leukemia cutis) are produced by the infiltration of leukemic cells in the skin. This study was done for clinical analysis of these lesions in our patients and for comparison with similar studies from abroad. It was an observational, descriptive and cross sectional study and was conducted in dermatology department, King Edward Medical College / Mayo Hospital, Lahore. Two hundred and fifty diagnosed cases of various types of leukemia were studied. Leukemia cutis was found in 35 (14%) patients. Papules and nodules were present in 71% and 49% of the cases, respectively and were the most common specific lesions seen. In addition, macules, plaques, ulcers, gingival hypertrophy, erythroderma, leonine facics and cutis verticis gyrata were also found. Specific lesions were observed on almost all sites of the body including oral mucosa, conjunctiva and genitalia. However, lesions were most commonly present on limbs and back of trunk. There was no specific distribution pattern in any type of leukemia. Most of the findings were consistent with earlier reports.
