CASE REPORT: A five years old healthy looking girl came to Department of Paediatric Surgery, Mayo Hospital, Lahore in December 1997. She complained of moderate, local continuous pain and swelling of left cheek for last 3 months. She bled profusely orally twice in the ward. Pea sized swelling started from left, lower premolar gum. It rapidly grew to involve whole left cheek (16 x 14 cm), submandibular region and half the oral cavity. Skin and buccal mucosa were intact except ulceration and fungation on the part protruding into oral cavity. It was warm, tender, firm with smooth surface and diffuse margins. No lymph node was palpable. ESR was 50mm in Ist hour. TLC 12000/mm2. Radiograph of skull showed soft tissue shadow completely replacing left half of mandible. Biopsy of tissue revealed pleomorphic liposarcoma. Surgical excision revealed that whole left half of mandible upto temporo-mandibular joint was replaced by tumour mass.
