Surgical Management of Inner Canthal Tumors involving medial part of Lower Lid.

Two patients with malignant tumors involving medial part of right eye lower lid, (Basal cell carcinoma), and Squaous cell carcinoma were surgically excised with good post operative cosmetic results. After full thickness excision of the Involved eyelid, surgical repair was accomplished by using tarsoconjunctiva as posterior lamella. With anterior lamella was reconstructed by pedical flap and free retro auricular skin graft. The success of surgical technique Is highlighted..

Case Report: A seventy years old female with pigmented tumor of medial part of lower lid was admitted on 23/03/2002. A wedge biopsy done previously had confirmed it as Basal Cell Carcinoma. She had superimposed infection of tumor surface with constant oozing of fluid discharge. She underwent surgery on 26/03/2002. The whole tumor area was excised with apparently 2mm of healthy skin around it. The defect was made good by surgical steps mentioned in material and methods. Post operatively, the graft was well taken up and she had cosmetically satisfactory appearance, taken soon after surgery, and after 6 months of surgery). The biopsy report confirmed Basal Cell Carcinoma. Then she was referred for radiotherapy.
