J Pak Assoc Derma Jan ;12(3):135-9.

Benign melanocytic tumors or melanocytic nevi are extremely common, and the great majority are benign with little, if any, malignant potential. Only a very small proportion progress to melanoma. These are broadly subdivided into congenital nevi, present at birth and Acquired nevi, appearing after birth. These nevi slowly disappear throughout life and by the ninth decade, very few melanocytic nevi remain. This article aims to provide a clinicopathological correlation and therapeutic options of different categories of these nevi in a simplified and tabulated version. This is a review article.
