Effect of Visual Processing in Functioning of Cerebral Palsy Children.

Background: In cerebral palsy gross motor goals can be facilitated by improving visual processing as visual dysfunction affects in achieving developmental milestones. Objective: To evaluate the effect of visual processing on participation and functional level in cerebral palsy rehabilitation. Methods: A quasi experimental study was conducted from January 2013 to December 2013 and comprised patients with gross motor function classification system (GMFCS) level 5. 36 subjects ranging between 6 to 36 months were included in the study. All patients were followed at 4 months interval time. Data was collected through modified pre-tested questionnaire. Repeated ANOVA measures were used to analyze data. Results: Results showed that there were significant differences between baseline and 4 month follow-up and 4 month follow-up and 8 month follow-up in all the variables. Conclusion: It was concluded that cerebral palsy child`s rehabilitation period can be improved by focusing on visual processing, and it in turns improve child`s functionality as well.
