Objectives: To assess the Nutritional status of pre-school and school-going children of flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa funded by HEC Pakistan. Study design: A well-structured and modified questionnaire based on rapid assessment field survey for socioeconomic, anthropometric, and nutrient intake was developed prior to the data collection. Place and Duration of Study: A descriptive, cross-sectional study of 2 years was conducted from June 2014 to June 2016 in flood-affected areas of Charsada, Nowshehra and DI Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Material and Method: A total of 656 pre-school (0-5 years) and school going children of 5-13 years of age were selected randomly. Anthropometric and biochemical indices food consumption and nutrient intake were used to assess the nutritional status of children. Data was analyzed by using SPSS-16. Result: The mean energy intake, carbohydrates, protein and fat intake were significantly lower than the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of World Health Origination standard among boys and girls, age, and district wise. Conclusion: There is an inadequate daily intake of dietary energy, carbohydrates, protein and fats than the recommended level, leads to stunted growth, poor BMI and MUAC in children of flood-affected areas (Nowshera) and especially in girls.
