Frequency of Hepatitis B and C in Hemophiliac Children.
Pak Paed J Jan ;27(4):157-60.

This cross sectional descriptive study was conducted at the Department of Child Health Khyber Teaching Hospital & Fatimid Transfusions Center Peshawar, from August 2000 to September 2001. Forty haemophiliac children below 14 years with at least two or more transfusions were tested for HBsAg & anti-HCV antibodies with ELIZA-III method. Ten (25%) children showed seropositivity for anti-HCV while 2 (5%) were HBsAg positive. There was a linear correlation of anti-HCV positivity with the number of transfusions. HBsAg positive cases did not show any such trends for transfusion.. All the positive cases were unvaccinated.
