Synosis of primary health care of children in Pakistan.
Pak Paed J Jan ;20(4):193-6.

In Pakistan about 5 million children are born every year (birth rate 3.9%) and there are over 20 million children below 5 years of age (16% of the population of 130 million). They are very vulnerable to diseases and death, contributing to almost half of the mortality and bearing 3/5th of the morbidity load in the community. A review of their health problems suggests that simple measures will greatly help in reducing their suffering and their parents anxiety and expense. Primary health care can be provided by every health care provider from a pediatrician to para-medic and certainly by family physicians and medical officers. This is a review article.
