Amecakaryocytic Thromobocytopenia.

A twelve year old boy presented with complaints of spontaneous bruising for five months and bleeding from guns fur the last ten days. This developmentally normal boy had no past history of bleeding tendency He was circumcised and there was no excessive bleeding at that time. There was no history of drug intake, joint swelling, jaundice or rash. The parents were first cousins and he had two normal sisters and four brothers. There was no family history of am bleeding tendency. When examined the boy was well built, with no dysmorphic features. He had purpura and ecchymoses all over the body and had gingival bleeding. He was pale with no lymphadenopathy or hepatosplenomegaly. Fundus examination was normal. Laboratory investigation results were Hb 5g/dl, TLC 3,800/cm, DLC P:30%, L:70%, Bleeding time > 10min, platelet count:40,000/cmm. Reticulocyte count >2%. Bone marrow reveled few mature platelets and megakaryocytic hypoplasia.
