Incidence of Carcinoma Gall Bladder in Cholelithiasis.

It is a prospective clinicopathological study of 217 cases of symptomatic gallstones in which cholecystectomy was carried out. There were 15 cases of carcinoma of the gall bladder with a female to male ratio of 4:1. Peak age incidence was between 51-60 years. Pain in upper abdomen was the commonest symptom present in 90% patients, obstructive jaundice in 60%, a palpable mass in 60% and weight loss in 35 % of patients. More than 80% of cases were of stage IV and V.
