Rubella Antibodies in Women with Full-Term Normal Delivery and in their Neonates.
Pak J Obstet Gynaecol Jan ;9(2,3):29-31.

A total number of 100 pregnant women at the time of delivery and their neonates were subjected to quantitative analysis for anti-rubella antibodies, IgG and IgM by solid-phase enzyme immunoassay (ELISA). The cases were selected from the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JPMC, from July, 1991 to April, 1992. Eighty nine (89%) women were found positive for IgG and 5 (5 %) were positive for IgM The neonates delivered to these women were positive for IgG in 89 (89%) cases while none were positive for IgM. In this study lgM antibody levels were measured to see recent infection in pregnant women, while both IgM and IgG anti-rubella antibodies were estimated in cord blood to determine fetal infection.
