Study of Effect of Omeprazole on Intestinal Motility.
Biomedica Jan ;15:77-9.

The aim of the study was to investigate effect of omeprazole on intestinal motility. The study was conducted on isolated strips of rabbit ileum set up in organ bath at 37°C and isotonic contractions were recorded on kymograph. It was observed that omeprazole neither increased nor decreased the intestinal motility. When given along with acetylcholine, it did not augment or depress acetylcholine induced contractions and the sensitivity of tissue remained the same. This result coincides with results of some in vivo studies. Different results in some other studies may be due to other factors.
