Septic induced abortion.

Thirty patients with induced abortion leading to generalized peritonitis and acute renal failure were admitted in the department of Gynae & Obst over the period of 3 years i.e. from January 1995 - December 1997. All patients were admitted in emergency. Most common presenting symptoms were high grade fever, abdominal pain, oliguria, bleeding per vaginum, foul smelling pussy discharge per vaginum after the history of D & C from Dai (TBA). Out of 32 patients, 2 patients died after laparotomy and the maternal mortality was found to be 6.25%.
