Tuberculosis of spine; Pattern of the disease in Paksitan.

Fifty cases of tuberculosis of the spine were studied at Shiekh Zayed Hospital, Lahore between Jan 1991 and June 1994. The most common age was 30-50 years. Male to female ratio was 3:2. The most common site of infection was T9-T12. The most common symptom was backache while the most common sign was local tenderness. Spinal cord compression was found in 18 cases. The most helpful specific investigation was plane radiograph of the spine.
