Histopathologic Evaluation of High Copper Amalgam.
Biomedica Jan ;15:12-20.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of high copper amalgam from the biological point of view. The study was undertaken to assess in vivo pulpal response in human bicuspids. A total number of 160 human teeth were evaluated histopathologically at 01 day, 01 week, 03 weeks and after 06 weeks. At 01 day slight pulpal response was elicited by the copper amalgam in all cases. At 01 week the majority of high copper amalgam exhibited a slight pulpal response with a tubular reparative dentin. At 03 week, there was complete reduction of the inflammatory response and after 06 weeks pulpal response was characterized with a uniform zone. These results suggests that high copper amalgam do not harm human dental pulp.
