Pattern of Serum Phospholipids in patients with Coronary Artery Disease.
Mother & Child Jan ;38(2):72-8.

Lipoprotein sub-classes and phospholipids were determined in blood of 100 patients suffering from coronary artery disease and 50 normal subjects. Lipid concentrations of lipoprotein were measured by using precipitation method. Instant thin layer chromatographic system of Gelman England was used to separate phospholipid subfraction. The absolute amount of total phospholipids subfraction tend to increase in case of coronary artery disease. Only Sphingomyeline differed at a significant level, whereas Lecithin diminished. We concluded that although serum phospholipid fractions may differ significantly in coronary artery disease group as compared to controls, yet they are no better predictors of coronary artery disease than other lipids.
