Nicotine induced Endothelial Injury.
Mother & Child Jan ;38(1):9-22.

Nicotine was administrated orally to Sprague Dawley rats in drinking water from 4-8 weeks in a dose of 5mg/kg body weight/day. The features of endothelial injury in coronary artery were studied in support of the hypothesis that nicotine contributes to the pathogenesis of arterial disease in smokers. The damage was seen to be proportional to the duration of nicotine exposure.
