Transfusion related acute lung injury: A case report.
Pak J Med Sci Jan ;21(2):223-4.

Twenty nine year old wife (2nd gravida) had a normal full term vaginal delivery with right mediolateral episiotomy, She had postpartum heamorrhage due to vaginal lacerations. The patient was started on a crossmatched whole blood transfusion but after the first unit she complained of dyspnoea and Tachypnoea was noted by the anaesthesiologist and he shifted her to the Intensive care unit where she developed frank pulmonary edema. She was treated aggressively and investigated thoroughly for possible cause. We suspected transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI) versus ARDS or overtransfusion.
