Silicone lymphadenopathy in a 48-year old female with a history of breast cancer - a case report with cytologic findings.
Int J Pathol Jan ;5(2):86-8.

Silicone Lymohadenopathy is a rare complication in patients with breast implants and is often confused with metastases from breast carcinoma. We report clinical and cytological features of silicone lymphadenopathy occurring in the supraclavicular lymph node that mimicked recurrent breast carcinoma, 14-years after diagnosis, in a patient who had intact gel prosthesis and no history of trauma. The patient is well and free of recurrence at one year following aspiration. The purpose of this report is to emphasize that FNA is an accurate and cost-effective method of ruling out malignancy in patients with silicone prostheses, presenting with enlarged lymph node. In addition silicone lymphadenopathy, although rare, should be considered in a differential while evaluating such patients.
