Ann Abbasi Shaheed Hosp Karachi Med Dent Coll Jan ;12(1):36-9.

Objective: To asses the efficacy of filled and unfilled adhesives as amalgam repair material Materials and Method: 20 cylindrical samples were prepared by condensing spherical - particle amalgam into 20 transparent hard plastic tubes of 10.0 mm length and 4.0 mm diameter. The tubes were filled up to 5.0 mm and were allowed to stand for 7 days to set hard. Ten samples were surface treated with amalgambond and other ten with amalgambond plus. Freshly prepared amalgam of the same brand was condensed into the tubes up to full length. The plastic tubes were removed after 24 hrs. The samples were subjected to universal testing machine for bond strength testing at Pakistan Ordinance Factories, Wah Cant. Results: Results showed that unfilled resin used to repair fractured amalgam has significantly higher bond strength than filled adhesive.
