To determine an association between lichen planus and HCV in our community. Study design cross sectional, study settings. Dermatology department, Divisional headquarters and Allied hospitals, Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Perior.1st January to 31st December 2002. Material and methods. one hundred consecutive patients with the clinical diagnosis of lichen planus (LP) were investigated for anti HCV antibody by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results. Forty on (41%) patients with LP were anti HCVantibody seropsitive. Out of 41 patients. 25 males (43%) and 16 females (38.9%) showed anti HCV antibody seropsitivity. conclusion. it is observed that a definite association exists between LP and HCV inferction. Therefore. It is improtant for a clinician to actively look for HCV infertion in all patients with LP.
