To survey Electro-cardiographic findings of working people with and without symptoms. Objectives: 1. To find out the Electro-ardiographs features in people at work in Lahore. 2. To find out prevalence of heart diseases in working population. Study Design: A cross-sectional descriptive study. Period: January 2001 to March 2001. Setting: Garden clinic, Garden town, Lahore. Subjects: 120 people of both the sexes with more than 25 years services were studied. Results: Electro-cardiogram of 82 (68.31%) patients were normal. 64 (53.31%) patients with normal ECG had no cardiac disease, while 18 (15%) patients with normal ECG had one or other cardiac diseases without any knowledge or symptoms. 38 (31.60%) patients had abnormal ECGs, 26 (21.6%) patients with abnormal ECG were ill, while 12 (10%) had no cardiac diseases. Conclusion: The ease of the test, very low cost and picking up of 26 [21.6%] diseased patients earlier than were going to present themselves, (may be with loss of life or severe damage to the heart,) warrants recording of 12 lead ECG at regular intervals in senior working population.
