Impact of media violence on children.
Pak Paed J Jan ;33(1):58-60.

Research has found that children are engaged into the world of media, before entering school and they spend more time to learn about life through media than from any other source1. Children learn their attitudes about violence at a very young age and this attitude tends to last. Although TV violence has been studied the most, the researchers are finding out that violence in other media impacts children and teenagers in many of the same harmful ways. From media violence, children learn to behave aggressively towards others. They are taught to use violence instead of self-control to take care of problems or conflicts. Violence in the media world may make children more accepting of real world violence and less caring towards others11. Entertainment media including TV, movies, vide ogames, radio, internet and newspapers exert powerful influence on child behavior and attitude2. Media educates and entertains the masses besides they provide public awareness about crime, punishment, social responsibilities and government policies. This is a review article.
