Treatment of intertrochanteric fracture in adults with dynamic hip screw without radiological control, an experience at district level.

Objective: To assess the final out come in terms of implant positioning and their outcome, surgical time, blood loss, infection and union. Study Design: A prospective study Place And Duration Of Study: District Head Quarter Hospital* from September 2006 to December 2007. Patients And Method: 30 patients with intertrochanteric fractures treated with DHS without X-ray control was carried out at District Head Quarter Hospital* from September 2006 to December 2007. Result: Results show 19 out of 30 patients had ideally placed implants. 11 out of 30 patients with their implants placed outside the desired site within the femoral heads. Conclusion: In the end we concluded that D.H.S osteosynthesis in introchanteric fractures treated without radiological control by an experienced surgeon and good preoperative planning is an effective alternative method of fixation of such fractures at places where image intensifier or portable X-ray facilities are not available.
