Long Term Effects of Atherogenic Diet on Body & Organ Weight in Albino Rats.

Eighty four (84) albino rats were divided into Low Fat (LF) (5%) diet group and high fat (HF) 20% diet i.e is Mixed Fat (MF), Olive Oil (00), Rapseed Oil (RSO), Corn Oil, (CO), Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Butter Fat (BF) 20% diet groups respectively. High Fat (HF) admixed with cholesterol and propylthiouracil (PTU), fed for 32 weeks, the rats were weighed at, 0,6, 12 and 32 weeks, at end of experiment i.e (32) weeks, the organs i.e, liver, adrenals and omentum were excised, after pithing animals, organs weight was noted. The Maximum increase in body and organ weight was seen, in animals fed saturated fatty diet and followed by the Corn Oil (CO) fat diet group. And least body and organ weight gain was noted in Low Fat (LF) 5% diet fed animals and Olive Oil (00) diet fed group animals (Tab-2 & 3).
