Study of hypocholesterolemic agents in the presence of chromium.
J Cardiovascular Dis Jan ;1(1-2):30-4.

For a duration of seven days the rabbits were dosed with cholesterol (250mg/kg per day) making them hyperchlosterolemic(serum cholesterol levels 4 times than normal). In these hyperchlosterolemic animals, chromium had almost the same magnitude of hypochlosteolemic effect as the individual effects of Mevacor and Lipocor. When chromium was given in combination with either Mevacor (lovastatin) or Lipocor (bezafibrate) the additive effect of the combined therapy in either case was significantly greater (p < 0.05) than the individual effect of either chromium, Lipicor or Mevacor.
