Leucocytoclastic Vasculitis.
Pak Armed Forces Med J Jan ;45(2):51-4.

Leucocytoclastic vasculitis is frequently seen in dermatologic clinics. A study of 30 cases of this common disorder was done to evaluate the different clinicopathologic patterns and the common triggering factors. Skin biopsies were taken in the early stage and at the end of the first week of eruption in all cases. The lesions were mostly purpuric (70%): commonest site was legs (100%). Acute inflammatory cells were seen in the early stage along with fibrinoid necrosis of the vessel walls alongwith leucocytoclasia; later stages showed only a mild perivascular mononuclear infiltrate. No aetiological factor was found in 58.3% of cases. Other factors included infections in 23.3%, chronic systemic diseases in 16.6% and drugs in 6.6% of the cases.
