Ever Use of Contraceptives Among Women Attending an Antenatal Clinic.

Ever-use of contraception was studied among 2000 women attending antenatal clinic of Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore. The mean age of these women was 23.7±4.2 years. The parity ranged from primigravida to para nine. The majority of women (92%) were educated and only 8% were illiterate Out of them, 601 women (30%) had used contraception before the reference pregnancy. Among 601 ever users of contraceptives, 70.1 % had used modern methods of contraception: condoms (45.4%), intra-uterine contraceptive device (16.1%), oral contraceptives (6.5%) and others (2%). Traditional methods mainly coitus interruptus were practiced by 29.9%
