Ocular manifestations of adult leukemia.
Al-Shifa J Ophthalmol Jan ;6(2):49-50.

Except acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), all other types of leukemia are more common in adults. In children leukemia runs a rapid course, while adult leukemia is slow to evolve and even may be asymptomatic. Since Liebriech described leukemic retinopathy for the first time about 150 years back, virtually all ocular structures have been found to be involved directly or indirectly from leukemia. Ophthalmologist may be the first to see a manifestation of otherwise an undetected adult leukemia. That is why a greater awareness needs to be created amongst ophthalmic community.
