Cardiovascular Effects of Anaesthetics / Analgesics Used for Caesarean Section.

The effects of Pentazocine, Butorphanol and Nalbuphine were studied on rabbit`s heart. All three drugs reduced the heart rate. The maximum reduction (11.18%) was caused by Pentazocine followed by Butorphanol (7.095%) and Nalbuphine (4.38%). However the effect of Pentazocine on coronary flow was very weak. Pentazocine caused the lowest reduction (0.245%) in coronary flow, followed by Nalbuphine (1.03%) while Butorphanol caused the maximum reduction in coronary flow (1. 11 %)
