Construction of soft tissue defects in area of heel by medical planter artery flap: an experience in tertiary care hospital of Karachi.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE: Our experience on the results of medical planter artery flap over the defective soft tissue are, in the region of heel. STUDY DESIGN: Descriptive study. PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY: Department of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery of Civil Hospital and Dow University of Health sciences, Karachi during period of 2004 – 2008. PATIENTS & METHODS: All patients admitted through OPD and Emergency department of this tertiary care hospital. The study based on thirty patients with different ager and with different causes. After necessary investigations the procedure performed. RESULTS: Out of thirty patients eighteen were male, nice female and three children’s with loss of tissues in area of heel. Results was good to excellent in most of the patients with full weight bearing. CONCLUSION: From this study we concluded that this procedure provides good result for defective soft tissue of heel and decreases the morbidity of patients with high energy trauma. It decreases the disability and increases the quality of life.
