Corrosive gastric outlet obstruction.
J Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;8-12:566-72.

Corrosive injury is a relatively rare cause of gastric outlet obstruction. In corrosive ingestion gastric outlet obstruction is generally, associated with varying degree of esophageal damage. With acid ingestion the gastric outlet damage is more than the oesophageal injury while alkalis tend to cause more damage to the oesophagus than the stomach. Two cases of gastric outlet obstruction due to corrosive injestion are presented. In both of them there was some associated oesophageal damage which was treated conservatively by dilatation. The Gastric outlet obstruction was surgically, corrected by Gastro -jejunostomy. In one case a temporary jejunostomy jejunostomy had first to be instituted to build up the patient. In the discussion. a brief survey of literatare is given.
