Coronary artery disease burden in Pakistanis - A Review.
J Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;8-12:592-4.

Pakistanis are part of an ethnic group which suffers from the highest prevalence rates of coronary artery disease compared to any throughout the world-CAD manifests at a younger age with a significant narrowing of the sex difference. CAD is known to take a much more aggressive course with wide-spread vessel involvement, large infart sizes and higher subsequent mortality. Insight into the study of CAD disease pattern of expatriate Pakistanis living abroad has given a wealth of data, which may be relevant to our native population. This stresses the need for a population based prevalence analysis of CAD in the native Pakistani population.
