Deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs - Predilection for left leg and importance of isolated right leg DVT.
J Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;8-12:595-8.

DVT is a common cause of morbidity and mortality. This is a prospective study in which a total of 44 patients were enrolled. DVT was proved on Doppler ultrasound. This included patients from 14 to 70 years of age and both sexes. Out of 44, 26 patients had DVT of left leg. 12 had DVT of both legs and 6 had DVT of right leg only. These findings are in uniformity with the international literature. When only the right leg is involved, it signifies that the pathology may be more localised to the right iliac vein and its immediate surrounding structures.
