Significance of Post coital Test (Sims-Huhner test) for evaluation of subfertility in low socioeconomic population.
Rawal Med J Jan ;40(4):419-23.

Objective: To emphasize the importance of postcoital test (PCT) in the management of couples seeking advice for conception as a simple investigation. Methodology: The cross-sectional study was carried out from January 2015 to June 2015. Post-coital test was done in the peri-ovulatory phase of women who were trying for conception for more than 2 year and who had no history of prior conception. Semen analysis was also done to see the relationship between the two tests. Results: A total of 100 women were included in the study. Good PCT was found in 32% of the women while in 43% the results were either poor or unpredictable. Direct correlation was seen between semen analysis and PCT. Conclusion: This cost effective test could determine male and female factors contributing to infertility. In areas where males do not want to expose themselves for investigation like semen analysis, PCT can help in diagnosis at an early stage in the management of infertility.
