Reduction in Anterior Capsular Opening area after Phacoemulsification (Capsular Phymosis).
Pak J Ophthalmol Jan ;16(2):70-5.

FiftV-seven eyes of fifty-seven patients were studied for reduction in the size of the anterior capsular opening after phacoemulsification with PMMA posterior chamber intraocular lens implant. The diameter of Anterior Capsular Opening (ACO) was measured with slit-lamp beam and the area was calculated. After six months of follow-up average reduction in the area of ACO was 13.4% from baseline, minimum reduction was 6% and maximum was 35%. None of the patients developed decreased visual acuity or subjective symptoms due to reduction in ACO area. The risk of developing severe constriction of ACO after phacoemulsification with PMMA lens implant in non-predisposed individuals is minimal.
