Secondary alveolar bone grafting of the cleft palate has been in practice for over 30 years to correct aesthetic, functional and occlusal defects which reportedly occur due to interference with the growth centres of the facial skeleton. The purpose of this article is to review and evaluate the current role, and the success rate of this procedure and of any modifications that may be adopted. This is a review article.
