Computer literacy and attitudes to utilization of E-resources among dental students of university college of dentistry, the university of Lahore.

The undergraduate students are required to access online communications as part of their public health dentistry curriculum in the second year of their dental course and this necessitates computer literacy. Therefore it was of interest to assess the dental students’ computer literacy and attitudes to utilization of e-resources. Undergraduate dental students of the second year (n=78) in University College of Dentistry, The University of Lahore were surveyed using a self-administered questionnaire on patterns of use of computer and internet, computer skills and training and attitude to usage of internet and e-resources. Majority of the respondents (89%) reported to have internet access. Most (69.5%) of them used the internet as a source of health information whereas (49%) reported learning internet skills through guidance from colleagues and friends and also through trial and error (32%). More than half (58%) reported internet as being addictive. The respondents have varying levels of competence in utilizing information and communication technology.
