Anaesthesia for Magnetic Resonance Imaging a limited experience.
Pak Armed Forces Med J Jan ;52(1):62-5.

To provide monitored anaesthesia care for patients undergoing MRI is difficult especially in our setup where MRI suits are usually not designed to house in built anaesthesia/monitoring equipment due to financial constraints. The emphasis is laid down on the difficulties encountered from anaesthesia point of view. More detailed studies are needed to devise a planned procedure for safe anaesthetic management of our patients within the scope of existing facilities. A total of 15 cases were included in this study undergoing MRI. They were given monitored Total Intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) by using various combination of anaesthetic drugs for prolonged periods without adversely affecting respiration or circulation and ensuring potency of airway at the same time. The procedure was conducted with reasonable satisfaction in all cases. The recommendations are given in the end based on difficulties encountered by us during the procedure.
