Anxiety and Depression in patients with Acne Vulgaris.

The aim of the study was to detect anxiety and depression in patients with acne vulgaris. Patients and Methods A total of 100 known acne patients were studied (50 males and 50 females). All completed the Urdu version of HAD (Hospital Anxiety and Depression) Scale, which is a questionnaire for detecting anxiety and depression in subjects. Results More than sixty percent of the patients showed significant levels of anxiety but the mean scores for depression were non-significant. Patients with severe degree of acne showed higher mean anxiety values. Conclusion This paper emphasizes the relationship between skin and mind and its consequent anxiety and depression in patients with acne vulgaris.
