Maternal, Fetal and Neonatal Risk Factors for Preterm Birth in Parity > 1.
Pak Paed J Jan ;43(4):270-7.

Objective: The objective of the study was to explore maternal, fetal and neonatal risk factors for preterm birth (PTB) in females with parity > 1. Study design: Case control study. Place and duration: The study was done at Hajvery University (HU) by collecting data from different hospitals of major provinces of Pakistan. The study was done in 10 months from October 2016 till September 2017. Materials and Methods: Females after 24 hours of delivery were approached with the help of consultants, duty doctor or duty staff nurse to note gestational age of all mothers from medical notes (that is calculated on ultrasonography). Risk factors were studied in females who delivered preterm baby (gestational age < 37 on dating scan) and from full term baby (gestational age >= 37 on dating scan). Results: Using multivariate logistic regression, previous history of (h/o) PTB (Odds ratio / OR = 2.196), previous h/o still birth (OR = 4.897), previous h/o C-Section (OR = 2.044), previous h/o PROM (OR = 1.912) and inter-pregnancy interval <12 months (OR = 1.507) were found as risk factors. Conclusion: This study concludes PTB can be minimized if modifiable factors are managed well.
