Rawal Med J Jan ;44(2):344-6.

Objective: To determine correlation between ultrasonographic and histopathologic measurements of breast tumor for predicting breast tumor size. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was carried out at Radiology and Pathology Departments of Capital Hospital, Islamabad from January 2015 to February 2016 and included 40 women with breast carcinoma. Breast tumor size was measured on standard sonomammography by consultant radiologist. The patients were followed till surgery. Tumor size on histopathology was verified by pathologist. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 17. Results: Mean age was 43.22+-10.22 years. Mean breast tumor size measured by histopathology was 32.05+8.40 mm and by ultrasonography was 31.22+8.31 mm. The r value was calculated as 0.9528, which indicates a strong correlation between these two methods. Conclusion: There is a positive correlation between mean breast tumor size measured by ultrasonography and histopathology for estimation of breast tumor size.
